About this event
Their children struggle to fit their parents’ way of life into a busy, demanding modern world.
Released in 1953 and considered the crowning jewel of director Yasujirô Ozu’s filmmaking career, this beautifully shot film surveys the rich and complex world of family life with characteristic delicacy and stillness. Featuring performances from Ozu regulars Chishu Ryu and Setsuko Hara, the elegant and universal Tokyo Story has lost none of its power in the years since its debut.
