"Sphere Within Sphere" is the name of the bronze Globe situated outside the Main Library in Trinity College Dublin, next to the Museum Building of 1857. This stunning artwork, created in 1982, was a gift by sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro to Trinity College.
The official name on the actual sculpture is in Italian and reads "Sfera con Sfera". It was created by Ornaldo Pomodorro, 1982-83. It is one of a is a series of sculptures created by the Italian sculptor. It depicts an enormous metal sphere with a cracked surface revealing an intricate interior with another cracked sphere inside.
Pomodoro originally created it for the Vatican Museum in the 1960s, but later for other organizations and can now be found in prime locations all over the world such as the Headquarters of the UN in New York, The Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, USA, The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, the Columbus Museum of Art in Columbus and the University of California, Berkeley, to name a few.
