About this event

This National Heritage Week, join Chester Beatty for an insightful talk by Heritage Council Conservation Intern Thaïs Naudin, focusing on the condition and treatment of two Batak manuscripts from the 18th and 19th centuries (Sum 1109 and Sum 1153)

These manuscripts, written on bark and folded in a concertina fashion, delve into the use of magic. This conservation project provided an opportunity to explore the materiality of these unusual objects and propose treatments that are sympathetic to the delicate nature of the birch bark.

Free, no booking required for onsite attendance. Please register for online participation.
